
Julian Hammond
Position:
Principal, FounderJulian Hammond founded HammondLaw to offer dedicated and professional representation to everyday employees and consumers. Julian believes that everyday Americans deserve a firm that fights for them and their rights. Under Julian’s leadership, HammondLaw has succeeded in recovering tens of millions of dollars in both wage and hour and consumer class actions.
Julian has successfully represented California employees in over 80 complex wage and hour class actions. Julian’s diligence and analytical thinking has allowed him to recognize wage and hour violations where no other firms have Julian has particular experience and expertise in representing adjunct university instructors in wage and hour class actions. To date, HammondLaw has successfully brought 31 cases representing over 29,000 adjunct instructors, which has resulted in the recovery of over $44,000,000. As a result of Julian’s advocacy, California changed the law on how adjunct instructors are classified, resulting in pay increases for these instructors.
Julian has also achieved consumer protection class action settlements against some of the biggest companies in the world, including Apple. For example, in Siciliano et al. v. Apple, Case No. 1-13-cv-257676, HammondLaw achieved a $16 million settlement for nearly 4 million Apple customers, for violations of California’s Automatic Renewal Law. In a similar class action, Julian and HammondLaw have also been certified as co-class lead counsel in a class action against Google.
Julian also has significant experience with both consumer privacy and cybersecurity investigations and litigation. He is currently pursuing litigation against a number of leading financial and healthcare companies for their unauthorized disclosure of their customer’s personal financial and medical information.
Julian has represented and attained multi-million-dollar judgements for both employees and consumers at the trial and appellate levels. Examples include Fisher v. MoneyGram International, Inc. 2019 Cal. Super. Lexis 73401 and Gola v. University of San Francisco. San Francisco CountySuper. Ct. No. CGC-18-565018.
Julian earned his law degree, summa cum laude, from The University of Technology, in Sydney, Australia, where he was on the Law Student Editorial Board. Julian received his Masters of Law degree from New York University School of Law in International Legal Studies.
Julian is admitted to practice in California, New York, Washington, and the State of New South Wales, Australia.
Outside of work, Julian enjoys spending time with his family, competitive running, and sailing.
